Mise En Scene Consideration

In our film opening, we will need to consider how we use mise en scene to make sure that the props and costumes in the scene let the audience understand the genre and the types of characters in the film.

We will make sure to include appropriate clothing and props in order to fully immerse the audience in the film.

The tactical vest (right) is a key feature in achieving the look we want. It will denote to the audience what the protagonist's job is and will provide the pouch that the suppressor will be held in. This prop also helped since it connotes to the audience that the protagonist was equipped for the job he has been set, as well as this it helps give the audience a hint of who the characters are and scenario the the protagonist is in.

Another prop that we used was the guns. They helped since they connoted to the audience that the protagonist was a agent and had been equipped with the correct equipment to deal with the mission. The pistol that the protagonist had connoted that he was a "Good Guy". This is supported by the fact the camera follows him at the start.

The gun that the antagonist had is the stereotypical "Bad Guy" gun and therefore connotes that he will try and kill the protagonist if he sees him. It also connotes the same thing that the protagonist (that he has been equipped specifically for this mission) therefore showing that they are both equal and as powerful as each other. This is why during the fight scene it is close due to the fact they have both been trained to the same degree.

The fake blood we used helped give the impression that the antagonist is injured or possibly dead. It helped add to the realism of the fight and immerses the audience into the opening. It helps give a conclusive ending to the opening scene and set both and tone and genre of our opening.

The props we used fit well with the location we had this is because our location was very isolated and therefore it seemed more like this was deserted. It also helped since no members of the pubic were in the background making it seem like the area we filmed in was a drop off point were no one would see what was going on.
